Ahead of the Fourteenth WTO Ministerial Conference, TESS partnered with the Remaking Trade Project, ODI Global, the Trade Negotiations and Investment Forum (TNIF), the International Relations Institute of Cameroon, and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) to convene this high level event.
Bringing together policymakers, regional institutions, leading trade experts and partners, the workshop explored how Africa can shape WTO reform to advance sustainability, equity and development priorities.
The discussions:
- Examined governance and institutional reform to enhance inclusiveness and restore trust in the multilateral system
- Assessed fairness, Special and Differential Treatment, subsidies and policy space from a development perspective
- Addressed climate-related trade measures, digital trade and emerging technologies through an equity-informed lens
The outcomes of then workshop informed our engagement throughout MC14 week and will contribute to longer-term thinking on reforming the multilateral trading system.
