LCAW | Exploring Trade Dimensions of the Transition Away from Fossil Fuels: Informal Expert Conversation

In the context of London Climate Action Week (LCAW), the Forum on Trade, Environment, & the SDGs (TESS) is organizing an informal expert conversation to explore the trade dimensions of the transition away from fossil fuels. The conversation aims to explore how trade policy and international trade cooperation can help accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels in a just, orderly, and equitable manner.

Roundtable Objectives

The discussion will explore:

  • Linkages between the various international legal developments and policy initiatives relevant to a just transition away from fossil fuels, focusing on where trade and trade policy fit in, and how these developments can reinforce one another to maximise impact.
  • Trends, recent analysis and issues relevant to trade in fossil fuels and the role of trade cooperation in the transition away from fossil fuels.
  • Trade-related dimensions and opportunities in the context of the follow-up to the Santa Marta conference and within the wider climate and trade regimes.
