The International Trade Centre (ITC), the Forum on Trade, Environment & the SDGs (TESS) and UN Environment Programme (UNEP) hosted the “Third Informal Dialogue on Priorities for Trade and Environmental Sustainability“, on Wednesday 3 November 2021, 09.00-10.30, at the ITC office in Geneva.
The dialogue aimed to foster an open, informal exchange among Ambassadors from developing countries on trade and environment priorities in the lead up to MC12.
The dialogue provided an opportunity for Members to share views on several Member-led initiatives for Ministerial Statements on environmental topics — the Trade and Environmental Sustainability Structured Discussions (TESSD), Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform (FFSR), Informal Dialogue on Plastic Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade (IDP). It also provided an opportunity for developing countries to discuss the environment and SDG-related priorities of Members regardi
ng any multilateral ministerial outcome or declaration that may emerge from MC12.
The discussions were moderated jointly by ITC’s Executive Director Pamela Coke-Hamilton and H.E. Ambassador José Valencia, Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the WTO and other Economic International Organizations in Geneva. The discussions were attended by 17 WTO Members, most represented by their Ambassadors.
