MC12: Joint launch event of three environment and trade initiatives at WTO (Postponed)

Update: Joint launch event for Ministerial Statements on environment to be rescheduled

[In the light of the postponement of MC12, the joint launch event of the Ministerial Statements on Trade and Environmental Sustainability, Plastic Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade, and Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform, which was to be held on Wednesday 1 December 2021, 09:45-11:45 CET, has been postponed.

The cosponsors of the three separate Ministerial Statements are currently considering options for rescheduling the launch event under an adapted format given the new travel and health regulations.]

Hosted by the co-convenors of the Trade and Environmental Sustainability Structured Discussions (TESSD), Informal Dialogue on Plastics Pollution and Environmentally Sustainable Plastics Trade (IDP) and Fossil Fuel Subsidy Reform (FFSR), speakers at the launch event will include Trade Ministers from WTO Members participating in one or more of three initiatives as well as leaders of a number of international organisations and stakeholder groups.

The event will allow for in-person and zoom participation (Room S1, WTO) for those with WTO MC12 accreditation.

A public webcast link will be provided shortly by the WTO on its pages for TESSD and the IDP.

The launch event will be chaired by Carolyn Deere Birkbeck, Director of  Forum on Trade, Environment and the SDGs (TESS).

The three Ministerial Statements can be accessed here: TESSD, IDP and FFSR.
