Breakfast discussion on climate and trade

The Forum on Trade, Environment and the SDGs (TESS) hosted a breakfast discussion on climate and trade at the Terrasse de la Paix restaurant at the Geneva Graduate Institute. The breakfast took place as part of Geneva Trade Week 2022 (GTW22), which is hosted by the Geneva Trade Platform in the margins of the WTO Public Forum.

Seizing the opportunity that many colleagues working outside Geneva were in town for the WTO Public Forum, the breakfast brought together a broad range of experts and stakeholders working on the climate-trade-sustainable development interface.

The breakfast was an informal opportunity for a diverse group to exchange views on priorities and ways forward for inclusive international cooperation on the trade and trade polices that support the Paris goals on climate mitigation and adaptation, a just transition and climate-resilient development.

To spur a conversation, we proposed a simple agenda focused on the following two questions:

  1. What do you view as three top policy priorities on the climate and trade agenda?
  2. How to foster the inclusive cooperation needed for an ambitious and fair climate and trade agenda?
