Aid for trade, environment, and sustainable development
The Forum on Trade, Environment and the SDGs (TESS) hosted a lunch discussion on Aid for Trade, environment and sustainable development on Thursday, 3 February 2022 from 12:30-14:00 CET at Hotel Intercontinental Geneva.
The purpose of meeting was to enable a very informal, small group exchange of ideas among a small group of Geneva-based colleagues working in this area on:
- the state of play, challenges and opportunities for work on this topic in the multilateral trade arena; strategic priorities, including in terms of analysis and framing to address sustainable development priorities of developing countries;
- existing or evolving plans for the Global Aid for Trade Review and further work on this topic;
- opportunities to bolster cooperation among the various agencies active on this topic in the multilateral trade arena (and potentially with other significant actors, such as the GEF and Green Climate Fund); and
- how the work of stakeholders could best support work on this topic
The meeting was attended in-person by 13 experts from various multilateral and international organizations, with a few virtual participations. The discussion was moderated by Carolyn Deere Birkbeck, Director of TESS.
